Kona Coffee Bean EPS Carbon Series Surfboard
Our high-performance shooter is one of our most popular models, especially amongst the rip, tear, shred and lacerate crew. The Coffee Bean is an excitable machine geared towards top-end competitive surfers who tend to do their turns at full speed and surf in-the-pocket.
The Coffee Bean features slightly more tail rocker than usual and a deep double to single concave. The tail area has a somewhat scooped-out deck with lower, boxy rails. These rails follow the bottom curve, enabling this board to bite seamlessly into the water in preparation for those radical, short-radius turns the judges appreciate and score highly.
The extra concave translates into more lift, which can be turned into more speed if you shift your weight and surf rail-to-rail. This, combined with the extra rail line rocker, means more speed is available while allowing for those searing turns.
A narrow hip between the feet adds hold and stability to the outline. At the same time, the generous tail area makes the board very forgiving. Still, the last few inches are pulled in enough for that extra confidence when jamming off the back foot and pushing hard.
To balance these quite radical design elements of the extra tail rocker, narrower hip, scooped-out deck and the hyper rail rocker, the board has more width in the forward outline and volume in the forward foil. The result is easy paddling, extra glide, and a more responsive drive off your front foot. This front volume adds glide and a more responsive drive off the front foot. The higher angle "Vee" deck removes volume and ends in a moderate but round and forgiving rail.
Outline:This performance outline has a wider tail but is pulled in over the last few inches. adding bite and drive. The fuller nose adds paddling ability. and the hip between the feet helps with overall stability alongside all the high-performance elements.
Rocker:With added tail rocker and extra rail line rocker. the extra width and volume ensure this versatile board has plenty of speed on tap.
Bottom Contours:Deep single to double concave to give the board plenty of squirt and give the board that short-radius turn edge over other boards.
Tail:The generous width. pulled-in tail. and narrow hip all help to find the harmony between speed and maneuvering.
