Best for easy first waves
The fuller outline and rounded nose make this shape easy to paddle, stable underfoot and smooth into waves. Refined rails and a responsive tail leave room to keep progressing without making the board feel clunky.
Best for small-wave fun
The Lemon Pop packs generous volume into a compact 5'10" shape. Its forward wide point and rounded tail help it enter small waves early, carry speed through weaker sections and stay loose when you want to turn.
Best for steady progression
The Papaya is a mid-length single fin built around glide and control. A fuller forward outline and low-entry rocker help it paddle and catch waves early, while the pulled-in tail keeps turns smooth and connected.
Best for performance
The High Performance uses a responsive shortboard outline with staged rocker and single-to-double concave. It paddles easily, maintains speed through sections and adds drive and control when the wave offers more room to turn.

Longer, fuller boards are easier to paddle and feel more stable. Kona's range runs from bodyboards and compact 4'4" and 5'5" shapes to 5'10" shortboards and surfboards up to 9'. For first waves, start toward the longer end; go shorter when you can already paddle, catch waves and stand consistently.
No. Longer soft tops give kids, adults and older beginners more stability for learning, while compact and performance shapes suit small surf and quicker turns. Stay on a soft top until you can catch waves consistently and control the board; move on when you want a specific change in speed, turning or feel.
Plantain, Papaya, Lemon Pop and High Performance softboards include fins and a leash. Bodyboards and specialty shapes use different packages, so check the product page for exactly what comes with your model. Replacement leashes and board protection are sold separately.
Rinse the board, fins and leash with fresh water, then let them dry out of direct sun. Do not leave the board in a hot car or drag it over pavement. Check the deck, rails and fin area for cuts, and repair any opening before the board goes back in the water.
Free standard shipping on orders over $75 excludes oversized items. Surfboards, bodyboards and other large items may ship by freight and may require a signature. Your available shipping method and rate appear at checkout before you place the order.
