PU Construction

Loading image:

PU (Polyurethane) surfboard construction, built with polyurethane foam cores and traditionally glassed with polyester resin, have been a staple since the 1950s sue to their responsive flex, ease of shaping, and repairability. Their Denser foam results in a slightly lower buoyancy, providing a "knifey" feel that performs well in choppy conditions. While polyester resin keeps them more affordable and easier to maintain, epoxy resin (PE) versions offer increased durability, strength, and lighter weight for enhanced longevity at a higher cost. Overall, PU boards are versatile, reliable, and favored by experienced surfers seeking a classic, traditional surfcraft with glassing options of either polyester or epoxy resin to suit different performance needs.
